About
Who writes this, and why the numbers are small on purpose.
The Savings Algorithm is published by 88Away, an independent publisher in New York. We write about one thing: making a saving habit visible enough that you keep it.
88Away publishes The Savings Algorithm, and the journal is written by the person who runs the company. There is no team of analysts, no sponsored advice and no separate editorial board: the business address in the footer and the contact address both reach the same person who edits the pages.
The subject is deliberately narrow. Most saving advice fails at the same place - the third week - so the writing here is about the mechanics that survive it: a visible total, a fixed deposit day, a rule for withdrawals, and numbers small enough to defend in a bad month.
What this site actually does
Every article states its arithmetic in full: the weekly deposit, the annual total, the monthly equivalent, the date a bill is due. If a post says $2,600 a year, it shows that this is $50 a week and $216.67 a month, so the number can be checked against your own budget rather than taken on trust.
The examples use ordinary prices and are labeled as examples. They are there to show the shape of a calculation, not to predict what anything costs where you live.
What this site does not do
It does not give financial, tax, legal or investment advice, and it does not know your income, your debts or your obligations. Nothing here is a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything, and no result is promised. The "not financial advice" line in the footer is not a legal formality; it marks the boundary of what arithmetic can tell you.
It also does not claim that a saving method is easy. The honest version of most plans includes a week where it feels pointless. The articles say so.
About the offers
Some pages describe third-party offers - a game, a cashback service, a survey panel. Those listings belong to the companies that run them. Availability, eligibility and terms can change without notice, and any reward or payment is theirs to give, not ours. Where a listing pays us a commission, the page carries an affiliate disclosure saying so, as the War Thunder guide does. If a listing looks wrong or out of date, email us and we will look at it.
About the printable journal
The 52-Week Savings Challenge Printable is our own product: a 78-page PDF, sold once for $9.99 and delivered by email. It exists because the paper tracker described in the articles is easier to keep when the pages already carry the running total. It is optional. Every method on this site can be run on a sheet of paper and a pen.
Corrections
Arithmetic errors are the ones we care most about, because a wrong number in a savings plan costs money. If you find one - a sum that does not close, a monthly figure that does not match the annual one - email info@88away.com with the page and the number. Corrections are made on the page, and the date of the change is noted. Suggestions about which topic to cover next are welcome for the same address.
